Because carbs are one of the most important macronutrients to make us healthy and fit.

There is a myth about carbs that I want to clear up today, that most people think that carbs can cause bad weight gain. This is simply a myth that people accept and avoid carbs.

Carbs and protein have the same calories.

  1 gm Carbs = 4 Calories

  1 gm Protein = 4 Calories

Whatever you eat, carbs or protein contain the same amount of Calories but if you eat anything in excess then it turns into fat which causes weight gain.

There is a simple math that 50-55% of your total calories in a day should come from Carbohydrates. It doesn't mean that you start eating artificial sugar, pizza, burgers, softy etc. But choose a good source of carbs for you.

So let's get started with our Best Carbohydrate Sources list.

 1). Sweet Potato

Sweet potato is an example of complex Carbs. Complex Carbs are slowly digestible, that's why it gives us energy for a long time. It is a good source of vitamin A, fibre. And this is a very good antioxidant.

If you want to gain weight then sweet potato is a very great food you should add in your diet.

Generally 100gm of sweet potato contains 26gm Carbs which is excellent. The fiber and antioxidants in sweet potatoes are also advantageous to gut health.

100gm of Oats contains 68gm Carbs. You can take oats as breakfast and a pre-workout meal.

3). Rice

There are two types of rice White rice and brown rice. Both are equally healthy and effective but white rice is slightly easy to digest compared to brown rice. So if you have a digestion problem then take white rice. I personally recommended white rice because it is easily available in Indian kitchens and also easy to digest.

 100gm of Rice(Raw) contains 80gm Carbohydrates.

You can eat rice for lunch or as a post workout meal.

We generally do not talk or eat quinoa but we should eat it because it contains a good amount of carbohydrates and protein.

100gm of Quinoa(Raw) contains 64gm Carbohydrates and also contains 12-14g of protein.

This is a complete food because it contains vitamins, minerals, rich in fibre and also it is naturally gluten free. Quinoa is rich in magnesium and has a high content of manganese

You can do it any time.

5). Banana

A minimum sized banana contains 25-27g of Carbohydrate. Banana is easily digestible and it gives energy quickly and also after eating banana our stomach becomes full for a long time.

People think that bananas cause weight gain but both types of people who want to gain weight or people who want to lose weight can't eat bananas.
